One In Thirty Australians Give Blood

Were you aware, that only 1 in 30 Australians give blood, even though 1 in 3 will need blood or blood products at some time during their life.

On August 7th, 2005 the Austalian Red Cross Blood Services Queensland, organised an event to break the National record for the most donations collected on one site in a day.

The site chosen was at Citipointe Church, Mansfield. The people faced their fears of needles with ease as 420 people registered, but only 365 people were able to donate due to the health some 60 donors.
The first donor gave blood at 9:15am and the last donor at 6:15pm. Nine hours to collect 365 bags of blood. Not bad for an honest days work.

This collection here in Queensland beats the Victorian record of 358 bags. So the challenge is out there. Can you beat the Queensland record of 365 donations in a day on one site?
