Blood a Gift

Believe it or not we all carry a special gift inside of us
Living a life that some of us take for granted
Only a few realise how precious this gift can be
Only a few will share it with you and me
Do you know that you carry this special gift inside of thee

Cord Blood Donation Perfect Match

Whilst I was pregnant I had watched a science program that was informing the general public about Cord Blood. It talked about the important findings in research done on the Cord Blood and how it could cure certain genetic disorders. The program mentioned that if there were any interested pregnant peoples to contact the Cord Blood registry in your State.

Normally the placenta and cord blood is thrown away. We decided to have the cord blood collected in the hope that it would be able to help both our eldest children. We hoped it could perhaps cure them. We made arrangements with our Obstetrician to collect the Cord Blood directly after birth.

Cord Blood has stem cells that have the potential of being a perfect match for most siblings that have a genetic chronic illness like 'sickle cell thalassaemia.'

Cord Blood Donation

When I was pregnant with Adrienne, I discovered that I could donate my babies cord blood so that in the future we could help Alexis and Zachary.

Cord blood contains huge amounts of Stem cells. Stem cells are used in research for their potential in the help of treating patients with life threatning diseases. Just like sicklecell thalassaemia.

Cord blood has stem cells (unlike stem cells found in Adults) has the potential in giving patients hope of finding a match.
