Cord Blood Donation Perfect Match

Whilst I was pregnant I had watched a science program that was informing the general public about Cord Blood. It talked about the important findings in research done on the Cord Blood and how it could cure certain genetic disorders. The program mentioned that if there were any interested pregnant peoples to contact the Cord Blood registry in your State.

Normally the placenta and cord blood is thrown away. We decided to have the cord blood collected in the hope that it would be able to help both our eldest children. We hoped it could perhaps cure them. We made arrangements with our Obstetrician to collect the Cord Blood directly after birth.

Cord Blood has stem cells that have the potential of being a perfect match for most siblings that have a genetic chronic illness like 'sickle cell thalassaemia.'
